Prayer Shawl

Ministry Head:  Barbara Chekijian, (973) 740-1717,

What Our Ministry Needs Today?  Parishioners who are interested in working with the group to create shawls, whether or not you know how to knit or crochet.  These shawls are free to parishioners in need.

Charter / Mission:  Shawls are created with open hearts and hands, by knitters and crocheters, who pray as they are created, and give them to those in need of a gesture of compassion and peace, in the hope that the recipients will see more clearly that there is hope for tomorrow, and that they are not alone – that someone cares for them.  In addition, shawls are created for the newly baptized and those who are grieving.  During the winter, hats, scarves and mittens are created to be given to those in need at St. John’s Soup Kitchen.  The group itself enjoys the companionship and support of fellow crafters.

Skills & Interests of Members:  Ability to knit or crochet a range of patterns.  Lessons are available if you are new to knitting or crocheting.

Meeting Time / Place:  Weekly meeting on Saturday mornings from 10AM to 12 noon, usually in the Music Room.
